These are the records for what I have graded so far. Hi, I'm Mrs. Ellis. Welcome to my website. I teach 7th and 8th grade Writing Success and 8th grade Language Arts and Social Studies/American history. The object of Writing Success is to give students the extra learning they need in order to bring their writing skills up to grade level. In language arts this semester, students will be working with the structure of several genres of writing. They will work on creating meaningful sentences and cohesive paragraphs that have a topic sentence and appropriate, high-level transitions. Students will also be using many strategies to improve their vocabulary and their ability to use context clues to figure out the meanings of unfamiliar words. This week we are working on vocabulary, sentence structure, and elements of plot. In social studies this week, we are working on map skills and early exploration of the Americas. HOMEWORK: Please check your students' agenda for the week's learning targets and sign that you have read them. Expect language arts homework every Monday through Thursday night in additon to occasional projects that can be worked on over the weekend. I have students write homework in their agendas when it's assigned. Many homework assignments are started in class, to be finished at home. If students have already finished the work, they will still have it in their folder because I refuse to accept homework before it is due. Please check your students' agenda for the week's learning targets and sign that you have read them. Grade codes: cr means credit mi means missing ab means absent on day assignment was due and has not made it up Thank you for visiting my website. Please explore the pages and links. Sincerely, Mrs. Ellis
