Our mission statement is as follows:

 

 

 

 

Southridge Middle School continues to develop as a Professional Learning Community (PLC) and everything we do is based on thirty years worth of effective schools research, as well as PLC research.  As a Professional Learning Community, we are committed to:

 

1)  A focus on learning for all students

2)  A collaborative culture

3)  Collective inquiry into best practice and current reality

4)  Action orientation: learning by doing

5)  A committment to continuous improvement

6)  Results orientation

 

The first step in becoming a Professional Learning Community is to establish a clarity of purpose, or mission, which answers the questions, "Why do we exist" and "What is our fundamental purpose, as educators?"  During the 2006-2007 school year our entire staff participated in this process, which eventually resulted in our mission statement.

 

During the 2007-2008 school year we will continue our development as a Professional Learning Community by establishing a vision, values and goals, based on our mission of ensuring meaningful learning experiences for all of our students.  We are exited about continuing the work we've begun and I welcome the opportunity to discuss our efforts with you.  Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.
